Sebastian Płóciennik
Director, Member of the Management Board, Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation
Dr. hab. Sebastian Płóciennik, Director of the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation and Professor of Economics at the Institute of Economics of Vistula University of Finance and Business in Warsaw. Until July 2024, he was an analyst for German economic affairs at the Centre for Eastern Studies (OSW) in Warsaw. From 2013 to 2021, he worked at the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM) as coordinator of the EU and Weimar Triangle program, and earlier as an assistant professor at the Institute of International Studies at the University of Wrocław. He studied law and received his doctorate and habilitation in economics from the Wrocław University of Economics. He began his academic career at the Willy Brandt Centre for German and European Studies in Wrocław. He has been a scholarship holder of DAAD, the Bosch Foundation, the National Science Centre (NCN), and the Polish-German Science Foundation. He has lectured at universities in Germany, Canada, South Korea, South Africa, and India. His research focuses on the German economy, economic integration processes in Europe, and institutional economics.
