Rafał Szmytke
President, Polish Tourism Organisation
Rafał Szmytke is a a manager with many years of experience, associated with tourism for years. He worked for the Polish Tourism Organisation in the years 2001-2016, in the years: 2008 - 2016 and since 2022 till today as its president. He is a graduate of the Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw and the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. He also holds a Master of Business Administration title – Rotterdam School of Management.
He gained managerial experience working at the Office of Physical Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Health and as a researcher at the Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw. Most recently, he served as vice-rector at the Vistula School of Hospitality and Tourism in Warsaw. He was a manager for hotel projects at Polski Holding Nieruchomości, chaired the supervisory boards of the Polish Tourism Development Agency and the Tourist Education Center, and served as Plenipotentiary of the Minister of the State Treasury at the Institute of Tourism.
He devoted himself to tourism not only professionally, but also socially. He co-organized, among others, the Nationwide Palmiry Rally, and chaired the Sports Survival and Exploration Center. He also has numerous publications in the field of qualified and adventure tourism. Rafał Szmytke is also a sports instructor: athletics, swimming, judo, survival, sports shooting, self-defense. He has a yacht sailor's license, a paragliding pilot license and a scuba diver II degree CMAS, PADI.
