Piotr Kuczera
President of Rybnik, Chairman, Silesian Union of Municipalities and Districts
Mayor of Rybnik since December 2014, city councillor in 2006-2014, a history teacher by profession. As a the city’s host he makes intensive actions to obtain external funds for the development of the city. He focuses on improving air quality.
Striving to revitalize the heritage of the past, unifying the aesthetics of urban space, implementing a coherent cycling policy, increasing investor interest in Rybnik, establishing cooperation with universities and entrepreneurs, interest in technological innovations (e.g. hydrogen) – these are the areas that determine the nature of his presidency.
As a chairman of The Silesian Union of Municipalities and Districts and the Association of Municipalities and Districts of the Western Subregion of the Silesian Voivodship, he takes initiatives for the development of the region. He represents Rybnik in the Association of Polish Cities.
Since January 2025, he has been a representative of the Silesian Voivodship in European Committee of the Regions.
