Monika Horna-Cieślak
Ombudsman for Children
Monika Horna-Cieślak – Ombudsperson for Children, lawyer and social activist. She has specialised in protecting the rights of children and adolescents since she was 19 years old. In her work on behalf of the youngest, she undertakes a wide range of activities, including legislation, training, and coordination of educational and research projects. She is the author of publications and research on children's participation in legal procedures and has co-authored a number of legal acts, including, among others, the Law on the Protection of Minors, the so-called Kamilka Act of Częstochowa. Prior to becoming the Ombudsperson for Children, as a lawyer, she provided thousands of legal consultations to children and parents regarding the protection of the rights of the children and represented them in legal procedures. She learns courage, sensitivity, and perseverance from children, which is her greatest source of pride and gratitude.
