Janina Harasim
Professor, University of Economics in Katowice
Full professor, Head of the Department of Banking and Financial Markets at the University of Economics in Katowice. Author or co-author of over 160 scientific publications. Her recent research focuses on the transformation of the retail payments market, as well as the development of FinTech and BigTech companies. Since 2011, she has been a member of the Committee on Finance Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
She has been collaborating with the business practice and economic environment for years (Cashless Congress, European Financial Congress, Bank Guarantee Fund - BFG). Since 2015, she has been a member of the Supervisory Board and the Audit Committee of Pekao Bank Hipoteczny S.A. In 2016, the Polish Bank Association awarded her the Nicolaus Copernicus Medal for her outstanding contributions to the development of the banking sector in Poland. In 2024, she received the Professor Remigiusz Kaszubski Award, presented to individuals whose work in the field of electronic banking and legal regulations concerning new technologies has been particularly impactful and creative.
Since 2019, she has been ranked annually among the most influential women in Poland’s payments industry in the Cashless.pl ranking.
