Expert, Member of Team Europe Direct, former Member of the European Parliament (2004-2024)
PhD in Sociology, academic teacher, expert, politician, and social activist.
Member of Team Europe Direct, the Council of the Polish Economic Institute, and the Board of the Batory Foundation.
He served as Mayor of Cieszyn from 1990 to 1998 and as Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship from 1998 to 2002. Active in numerous European local and regional government organizations.
Member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2024, primarily working in the fields of the EU budget, regional policy, and urban affairs.
Standing rapporteur of the European Parliament on the Multiannual Financial Framework for 2021–2027.
