Jacek Kaczorowski
President of the Management Board, PGE Górnictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna SA
Mr Jacek Kaczorowski graduated from the AGH University of Kraków with degrees in Mining and in Management & Marketing. Since the beginning of his professional career, he has been associated with one of the largest mining companies in Europe – Bełchatów Lignite Mine, where he held top managerial positions. He has extensive experience in leading and supervising projects in the mining and energy sectors. Participant in the work of the Mining Committee - Section of Opencast Mining, as well as the Section of Mining Economics at the Polish Academy of Sciences.
While a member of the Management Board of KWB Bełchatów SA (Bełchatów Lignite Mine), he held the position of Chief Investment Officer from 1999 to 2003, President of the Management Board and CEO from 2006 to 2010. From July 2009, he also simultaneously managed PGE Elektrownia Bełchatów SA (Bełchatów Power Plant) and led its consolidation with 13 power and mining companies from across Poland. Until the end of 2015, he was President of PGE Górnictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna - one of the five most important companies of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, responsible for the development and long-term building of the company's competitive advantage in the market.
He continued the company's internal consolidation processes, in particular taking direct responsibility for the implementation of the 2011-2013 Efficiency Improvement Programme and for the optimisation projects launched in 2013 in the Company’s Branches and in the Head Office.
In 2011, he completed one of the largest investment projects in the Polish power generation industry after 1989, i.e. the construction of unit no. 14 with a capacity of 858 MW at the Bełchatów Power Plant. During his term of office, the construction of the following facilities was started: two generation units No. 5 and 6 at the Opole Power Plant with a total capacity of 1,800 MW, a power unit No. 7 at the Turów Power Plant with a capacity of 496 MW, a gas-steam unit at the Gorzów CHP Plant and a Thermal Waste Processing Installation with Energy Recovery at the Rzeszów CHP Plant. Between 2010 and 2015, he carried out the reconstruction and modernisation programme for units 5-12 at the Bełchatów Power Plant.
