Cornelius Hagenmeier

Cornelius Hagenmeier currently serves as Head of Internationalisation at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences and is a member of the Executive Board of the European University Alliance EURECA-PRO. He is also a Research Fellow at the University of the Free State in South Africa, where he previously served as Director of the Office for International Affairs from 2017 to July 2023. Hagenmeier is an international education administrator and legal academic qualified in both German and South African jurisdictions. He holds the German qualification for judicial appointment (assessor juris), as well as PhD (UCT) LLB (UNISA) and LLM (UCT) degrees from South Africa. He is a non-practising attorney of the High Court of South Africa. In addition to his current roles, Hagenmeier serves voluntarily on the Board of the African Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation (AfriC). He has extensive experience in international higher-education partnerships and internationalisation strategy development, regularly teaches short courses, and facilitates workshops in these areas.
