Anna Chrobok
Vice-rector for Students and Education, Silesian University of Technology
Prof. Anna CHROBOK, DSc, Eng. – Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education at the Silesian University of Technology – served as Director of the College of Studies at the Silesian University of Technology from 2019 to 2024, and was a member of the General Council for Science and Higher Education in Poland from 2018 to 2022. Currently, she is Chair of the Scientific Council of the Łukasiewicz Research Network – ICSO "Blachownia", a member of the Monitoring Committee for European Funds for the Silesian Voivodeship, and a member of the Committee of Chemical and Process Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN).
She is a specialist in organic chemical technology and chemical catalysis. Her research focuses on sustainable development, including the design of novel functional materials derived from biomass, such as innovative (bio)catalysts (https://chrobokgroup.com/). She has supervised 16 PhD theses, including five industrial doctorates, and is the author of over 140 publications in JCR-listed journals (h-index 28), as well as more than 50 patents. She completed a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Vienna and held shorter visiting professor positions at Monash University, Queen’s University Belfast, the University of California, and Chongqing Jiaotong University, as well as a five-month industry internship at Ekomax.
She maintains broad collaboration with industry leaders such as ORLEN S.A., ORLEN Południe, Grupa Azoty S.A., Solvent Wistol S.A., BASF, Merck, Perstorp, Losentech, and Fluor, implementing numerous solutions into industrial practice. In 2023, she received the Individual Award of the Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding achievements in industrial implementation.
