His previous positions include: Deputy Ambassador at the Austrian Embassy in Zagreb and Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Warsaw and later in New York.
He was also Advisor for Science, Arts and Culture to the President of the Republic of Austria.
He has lectured at the Universities of Vienna, Innsbruck, Warsaw, Krakow, as well as Gordon College Boston, Columbia University, Stanford and the German Studies Association USA.
