Thematic scope
Europe’s industrial regions and areas dependent on conventional energy in the face of challenges of the transition.
– What facilitates and prevents sustainable transition?
– Can mining regions regain their social and economic allure? If yes, how?
– The costs, risks and benefits of transition in its key areas: social life, standard of living, health and the environment, urban planning and spatial development, demographics, labour market.
– The role of the Just Transition Fund: resources, projects, experience.
– Green scenarios for regions undergoing transition. The problems and barriers related to mining: rehabilitation, revitalisation, repurposing, investments.
– The resources and potential of regions: opportunities and developmental options for employees and residents.
