Thematic scope
The conditions for hard coal and lignite extraction in Europe and Poland. Coal remains necessary – the forecasted scale of its use as a stabiliser of the power system. A realistic, up-to-date, and safe schedule for shutting down conventional capacities versus the gradual decline in demand for hydrocarbon fuels in energy production. How and to what extent should extraction capacities be maintained? Extraction of critical raw materials in Europe: resources, expertise, readiness. The potential and competencies of the mining industry – its possible applications: sustainable extraction and processing of raw materials and aggregates, deep-sea mining, land reclamation, recycling, and infrastructure construction.
