Jean-Paul Mulot
Jean-Paul Mulot is a Regional MP in charge of international relations, a delegation he received from Xavier Bertrand, President of the Hauts-de-France Region and former minister under Jacques Chirac and Nicolas Sarkozy. He also sits within Hauts-de-France International, a task force dedicated to the international economic development of Hauts-de-France, whose objective is to strengthen, with the CCI and NFI, the synergies between the institutions promoting exports, attracting international investments and economic diplomacy.
He was previously Permanent Representative of the Hauts-de-France Region in the United Kingdom from 2017 to 2020.
At the beginning of his career, after studying history and law at the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, he started his media career in 1981 at the Quotidien de Paris, where he was editorial director (1989 and 1993-94); he was then deputy editorial director of Le Figaro (1995-2007) and director of lefigaro.fr.
Passionate about culture and gardens, he has been president of the Association of Parks and Gardens of Aisne (1998-2004), Vice-President of the Foundation of Parks and Gardens of France (2000-03), and created and chaired the Art & Gardens Hauts-de-France association in 2017, an association which launched the Peace Gardens path project in 2018.
Administrator of the Louvre-Lens Museum, he also sits on the boards of directors of the Lille Opera, the Lille Higher School of Journalism and the Tandem Scène Nationale of Arras and Douai. He is the author of several books including « Jardins de Picardie », « the Prince who wanted to be a gardener » (Eve Delacroix prize from the Académie Française) and received the Hachette Prize from the Foundation for the written press in 1991.
