Danuta Hübner

Danuta Hübner is professor of economics and politician, with a lengthy academic career and three decades of experience in shaping the European Union as a former European Commissioner for Trade and Regional policy, member of the European Parliament and senior government official in Poland, involved in the country’s transition to the democracy and market economy. She was deputy minister for Industry and Trade, chief negotiator of Poland’s accession to OECD, minister of European Affairs in charge of preparing Poland for EU accession, Head of the Chancellery of the President of Poland. She was also UN Undersecretary General and Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva.
She has extensive experience in the EU-US relations, UK’s path toward Brexit and preparing Ukraine to join the EU. In the European Parliament, she was rapporteur for major capital market legislations. She was member of the committees on: Economic and Monetary Policy, International Trade, Constitutional Affairs, Regional Policy, and of special committees on: Financial, Economic and Social Crisis; Policy Challenges and Budgetary Resources for a Sustainable European Union; Tax Rulings and Other Measures Similar in Nature or Effect.
