Barbara Klemczak is a professor and holds a DSc and PhD in Technical Sciences, in the field of Civil Engineering, Geodesy, and Transport. She serves as the Deputy Head of the Department of Structural Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology. She is a member of the international advisory board at the C-MADE Research and Development Centre in Portugal, focusing on researching and promoting modern materials in civil engineering, energy efficiency, and environmental aspects. She is also a member of the technical committee RILEM TC 299 (Thermal Energy Storage in Cementitious Composites) and the Civil Engineering Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Katowice. From 2014 to 2021, she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Architecture Civil Engineering Environment". Currently, she leads a team from the Silesian University of Technology in the NRG-STORAGE project (Horizon 2020), aimed at developing an innovative thermal insulation composite with the addition of phase change material.
