Břetislav Dančák

Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Poland

The Masaryk University in Brno has been a cornerstone of Ambassador Břetislav Dančák's professional career, serving as both his Alma Mater and the institution where he has been an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social Studies since 2008.

He has also completed a number of internships abroad – in 2000 and 2002 he lectured at the Institute of Eastern Studies at the University of Warsaw, and in the academic year 2003/2004 he received a Fulbright scholarship at Columbia University in New York. Since the establishment of this body, i.e. from 2008, a member of the Czech – Polish Forum under auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the years 2018-2023 he was the Chairman of the Czech Program Council of the Czech – Polish Forum. From 2011 to 2019 he served as Dean at the Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University, and in 2019 he became Vice-Rector of this University, responsible for internationalization.

He held this position until 2023, when in December of that year he presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Poland and initiated his diplomatic mission as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Poland. He specializes in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, energy security, and international relations of the V4 countries. In addition to his knowledge of English and passive knowledge of Russian, he also speaks Polish.
