Piotr Kuczera is serving as Mayor of the City of  Rybnik since December 2014. He was  previously the Councillor of Rybnik from 2006 until 2014 and a history teacher by profession. As the city’s host, he emphasizes the importance of social dialogue and fellow residents’ commitment in the interest of Rybnik. He initiates considerable efforts to obtain external funds for the development of the city.

Fields that define the character of his mayoralty are: struggle to revive the past’s heritage, unification of public space’s aesthetics, implementation of sustainable cycling policy, increasing investor’s interest in Rybnik, promoting cooperation with universities and entrepreneurs and taking interest in technological innovations.

Piotr Kuczera is also actively engaged in undertakings that go beyond local. As the chairman of the Silesian Association of Municipalities and Districts and the Association of Municipalities and Districts of the Silesian Voivodeship’s Western Subregion based in Rybnik, he develops initiatives for the whole region. He represents the City of Rybnik in the Association of Polish Cities.
