Dr. Kathrin Hornbanger is Head of the Public Law Practice Group in Vienna with a strong focus on international public procurement. She advises companies in international procurement procedures in particular in health care, IT and all kinds of infrastructure projects. Before joining Baker McKenzie in April 2020, Kathrin has been renowned for her focus on public procurement, EU law, constitutional and administrative law for the past twenty years. Before establishing her own law firm in 2005, Kathrin became head of legal department at the Austrian Federal Procurement Agency, where she was part of the founding team setting up a centralized purchasing system for the Austrian government and was supervising the tendering procedures, handling review cases before the Austrian Review Bodies, implementing an e-procurement system for the Austrian federal state and developed general standard procurement requirements, structures and procedures for the Austrian ministries. In the last fifteen years Kathrin was ranked among the top ten Austrian lawyers in Public Procurement Law and engaged as speaker at various conferences. She also worked for the European Commission in Brussels and was part of the cabinet of the Austrian judge Dr. Peter Jann at the European Court in Luxemburg.
