Prof. Dr. Eng. Jerzy LIS, Full Member of the Polish Academy of Science and member of the World Academy of Ceramics, professor in materials science and chemical technology in AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow Poland, actually Rector of the AGH UST for cadence 2020-2024.
His main research specialisation is research and application activities in Materials Science & Engineering in the field of ceramic materials for structural and functional applications in constructions for the machine-building, automotive, aviation, military, aerospace, electronics, and other industries. In research he is known mainly by his works on advanced materials (structure ceramics, MAX phases, composites) prepared by combustion synthesis SHS (Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis) and LM (Laser Manufacturing) as well as the author of publication in the field of engineering and traditional ceramics (tiles, refractories, sanitary and electroceramics).
His scientific achievements contains 388 publications in journals and proceedings, citations by SCOPUS more then 1250, h-index=18, 4 books, more than 180 presentations on conferences (87 international), 18 patents, managing of 15 R&D projects as well as international cooperation with academic and research centres in US, Russia, Germany, Japan, France, Spain for instance: ENSCI France, University Castellon Spain, PennState University, Texas University, SDSMT USA, UBC Canada, ISTMAN Russia, Hokkaido University, Japan,
He is the Honorary Fellow of the European Ceramic Society, member of: the International Society of Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis; the American Ceramic Society, the Polish Ceramic Society and the Polish Materials Society (former president of PMS). He is also President of the International Affairs Committee of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP) and the Vice-President of the Conference of Rectors of the Polish Technical Universities.
