The European Forum of Young Leaders will provide participants from Poland, other European Union countries, the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe and the Caucasus with a space to share experiences, establish contacts and discuss topics important to young people across Europe.
Johannes von Thadden, born in 1956, serves as President and CEO of Airbus Poland in Warsaw and Mielec. Before he held the position of Senior Vice President and Head of ‘Space Systems and European Institutions Business Growth’, responsible for Airbus space order intake of about 2.5 bn €. In 2007, he had joined the space activities of Airbus Defence and Space (previously called Astrium, serving on its board).
He studied economics, history and political sciences in Saarbrücken and Seattle, Wa., USA, completed a PhD in economics and political sciences and held several positions at the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce, before joining the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation in Berlin as Deputy Director General.
Between 2003 and 2007 he served as Director General of the Christian Democratic Union of former Chancellor Mrs. Angela Merkel, organizing the election campaign that made her Chancellor in 2005.
He has been awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz, the German order of merit.
He is married and has three children.
