Damian Karwala holds a PhD degree in legal sciences and is a Polish-qualified attorney-at-law. For several years, he has advised international and domestic clients in the finance and insurance, telecommunications, pharmaceutical and TMC sectors, including leading banks, insurance companies, software houses and operators of major websites and online services. He specialises in the protection of personal data and business secrets, cybersecurity, IT and computer law, telecommunications, e-commerce, copyright and digitalisation.
Damian is a founding member of the Association of Data Protection Practitioners. He is also a member of the Personal Data Protection Working Group at the Ministry of Digitisation and an expert legal advisor at the Polish Chamber of Insurance. He has participated in work on the GDPR project and the sectoral act implementing the GDPR into national regulations.
He is the author or co-author of numerous scientific and popular science publications, including “Commercial Transfers of Personal Data to Third Countries” published by Wolters Kluwer (Warsaw, 2018).
