Undersecretary of State, Plenipotentiary for international cooperation in the field of VAT, Ministry of Finance, Poland

On November 28, 2019, Mr Sarnowski was appointed Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Finance.

Jan Sarnowski is an expert in the field of Polish and German tax law. He gained professional experience in law and tax consultancy offices in Berlin and Warsaw.

Graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw and the University of Cologne (LL.M.) and postgraduate studies in tax law (University of Warsaw) and law of common law countries (WWU Münster and Thomas M. Cooley Law School).

In the period 2016-2018, adviser to the minister of economic development and finance, responsible for coordinating the sealing process of the Polish tax system. Co-founder and deputy director of the GovTech Polska program, research fellow of the Polish Economic Institute. From June 2018, deputy director of the Income Tax Department and head of the  comparative law team at the Ministry of Finance. Author and co-author of publications on income taxation and VAT.

On October 14, 2019, Mr Sarnowski was appointed Plenipotentiary of the Minister of Finance, Investment and Development for international cooperation in the field of VAT.
