AMARE ASGEDOM is Deputy CEO at the Ethiopian Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) where he leads work on industrial parks development and project management. The Corporation is an initiative of Government of Ethiopia mandated in development of industrial parks to enhance industrialization, accelerate economic transformation, promote and attract domestic and foreign investors. Amare has been successful in managing the construction of more than 11 industrial parks, including Hawassa Industrial Park, an Eco-industrial park which is first in its kind in the continent.
Prior to joining the IPDC, Amare has worked at the Ethiopian Ministry of Urban Development, Housing, and Construction where he led the housing development and government building construction bureau. During his time at the ministry, He managed the coordination of public houses construction, built for more than 100,000 middle- and lower-income citizens in different cities. At the early stage of his career, He served as head of Addis Ababa City Administration Urban Development Bureau where he developed Addis Ababa City’s, Ethiopia’s capital city, masterplan revision project which is the first of it done by Ethiopians. Amare has also worked as an advisor at Addis Ababa Road Authority on road construction and code preparation. In addition to the above positions, Amare has held multiple senior levels and executive positions in Addis Ababa land administration bureau and various public institutions. Amare received his BSC in Architecture and town planning from Addis Ababa University.
