Liana Jervalidze

Position: Energy Policy Analyst, Georgia

Ms. L. Jervalidze is a researcher and analyst on the Caspian area energy and environment policy, transit routes and regional studies. Ms. Jervalidze is the director of Orbeliani Centre for Advanced Strategic and Energy Policy Studies at PSI Georgia. She is a consultant to the Georgia/Iran Chamber of Commerce.  She is associated Prof. at the University of Georgia and teaches “Energy Policy of EU” there. She is an alumna of the Kennan Institute of Advanced Russian Studies in Washington DC. , and the Reading University Business School Eurasia Studies Project in UK. She comments on a regular basis on Georgia’s energy, environment and regional policy at commercial TV channels: Rustavi 2 and Imedi programs - Business Courier, The Capital, and Radio Free Europe. 

 In 1993-2016 Ms. Jervalidze has worked with several Georgian and foreign institutions including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, USAID contractors (OSC and IRIS) and research centres working on political, economic and environmental aspects of the regional energy policy and development: The Caspian Area Energy Studies Project and Partnership for Social Initiatives PSI. She acted as adviser to international commercial entities “Azerbaijan-Georgia Transport and Development Co” –based in Baku and “Silk Road Consulting” based in Tbilisi.

 Her work has mainly focused on the development of South Caucasus energy corridor as well as north-south transportation network and Georgia’s potential role in the process of regional integration. Since 2003 Ms.Jervalidze has been working on the development of Georgia’s energy market and reforms envisaged and implemented.

She has made presentations on political, economic and environmental aspects of regional energy policy and transit routes to a number of international and regional conferences held in Tbilisi, Baku, Brussels, Istanbul, London, Strasbourg and Washington. She is the author of analytical articles published in Georgian and English languages.

Ms. Jervalidze is fluent in Georgian, Russian, English and French, and speaks some Turkish.
