Jerzy Bernhard graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Czestochowa. From the beginning of his career he has been related to the steel industry. In the years 1975-1992 he worked in Huta Katowice on positions from Master to Deputy Head of a Department. In the period 1992-1996 he served as the Chairman of the Board of Stalprofil Sp. z o.o. From 1996 to 1998 he was a Member of the Board and Director of Sales at Huta Katowice S.A. Since 1998 he has served as the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Stalprofil S.A. The company managed by Jerzy Bernhard has been growing strongly for many years, reinforcing its market position and achieving outstanding financial results against the industry. Currently Stalprofil is a leading Polish distributor of steel products with an established, solid brand. The company also has a strong position in international markets and in the EU market in particular. Since 2000 Stalprofil S.A. has been listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Since then the capitalization of the company has increased many times, providing high returns to shareholders. Stalprofil S.A. Capital Group, built since 2005 by Chairman Jerzy Bernhard, consists of 4 entities that represent, next to the steel industry, gas transmission infrastructure. Representatives of that segment are: Izostal S.A. (also quoted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange), which produces mainly anti-corrosion steel pipe insulation, and ZRUG Zabrze S.A. – developer of gas pipelines. Solid quality of Stalprofil S.A. brand, created at the time when Jerzy Bernhard was its CEO, has been confirmed for many years by international rankings and competitions organized by economic associations.
